Question about Dr. Davis and Cornell
Is it true that only Dr. Davis in Cornell doesn't take insurance for his consultation but the other REs do? If this is true, does anyone know how much Dr. Davis is charging? I realized that a lot of people go to Dr. Davis as their RE, I was wondering if all the REs in Cornell discuss all the patients' progress at their daily meeting or is it solely up to the decision of your RE what your protocol or changes would be? I live in NJ and work in NJ so for me to go in for the morning monitoring, I would have to drive in and out of the city to be most time efficient. Does anyone do this as well? If so, are there any streets near by that allow street parking before 9am? If not, does anyone know what the cheapest parking garage is located around there? Or, if anyone has any other suggestions.
Thanks for all your help. I had one failed IVF that never made it to transfer. 5 retrieved, 5 fertilized and all arrested before my day 3 transfer. My second IVF was converted to IUI. I'm on 9dpiui but CD 26 (i usually have 27-28 days cycle). I think it's going to be a bust because I started having browning spotting and AF cramps as I'm typing this. I hope third time at Cornell is the one for me.

Re: Question about Dr. Davis and Cornell
I am not with Cornel RE yet, but I have done much research. Yes, Dr. Owen Davis does not take insurance ( at least mine, united healthcare) for consults, while other REs do ( except for Rosenwaks). Also, i would not say that it is true that most ppl go to Davis. A lot of ppl go to Davis, b/c of his sub specialty ( which is older women with high FHS). IF you do not fall under that category, I would consider others. I also live in NJ. That is why I am still undecided whether to go to Cornel or NYU ( which is closer to my work). I heard that morning monitoring is a pain at Cornel, so I am still figuring out if I can do it. Good luck to you!

Re: Question about Dr. Davis and Cornell
I was a patient at Cornell with Dr. Davis. Only his consult was out of network for me. It was $350 and my ins. picked up 70%. He would be the one to make the decisions about your cycle. He may confer with other docs in their meetings about special cases or to get some other ideas but ultimately he would be the one making the decisions of he was your doc.
If this cycle doesn't work this time I may consider going back there.
The cycle itself would be in network. I have UHC and I know they take Oxford as well.
eta: I took the train in the early am and it went smoothly. when I had to go in on weekends I parked at the nearby garage and it never was more than around $20.

Re: Question about Dr. Davis and Cornell
I went to Cornell in the city and saw Dr. Pak Chung. I loved him and he did accept insurance, (however I had to wait 3 months to get in for an appt with him). I would think even if you just have to pay the consulation fee, insurance should cover a good amount of it once you submit it.
I loved their office and staff. The morning montoring hours ARE very busy and packed in the waiting room but I never waited more than 20 mins. ( but I only had to go a few times and wasn't for IUI or IVF) so maybe that's different)
I went after having recurring miscarriages, never had a problem getting pregnant but staying. He treadted the cause of my miscarriages and then montiored me for Natural Cycles just with the Trigger shot. I got pregnant the 1st time with him. He also has several other specialities. All the Dr's there are great!! I have heard Dr. Davis is brilliant.
I never had to drive down there ( i live a few blocks away). I think it's pretty tough to find street parking though. There is a garage on 68th Street off of York Ave across from the 68th Street Entrance off the Hospital.
Hope that helps!! Feel free to FM with any questions.
Goodluck to you!!!! I hope you get a BFP this cycle!
P.S. They have a free Women's Support Group on Tuesday morning's there at 9 am. Not many patients even know about it. I had gone twice and it was great. It is very stressful going though Infetility, Miscarriages, IVF and it usually is a small group of women to chat with...who are all going through the same thing.
