question about dr b's office

How do you guys handle the hours there, wait time, etc. while working?

Last week I had to miss an entire day of work because my appointment was right in the middle of the day plus its 1.5 hours from music job plus I was there for over 3 hours!

Today I went for an early monitoring appointment and wad still 30 minutes late for work even though I work 1 hour closet on Monday.

Now I need to be seen tomorrow and the only appointment is 10 meaning I can't go to work in the morning and may possibly miss the rest of the day depending on how log the wait is. I have never waiter shorter than 1 hour to see Dr. B himself and Its usually more than that.

How do you handle this with work?

I did all my monitoring in the city because I work in the city. The handful of times I did got to Dr. B I always needed a half day.

I'm sorry, I know the waiting is very stressful, but the results are worth it.Chat Icon

same here. i did a lot of my monitoring in the city and took as many saturday appointments as i could. during my IVF they always squeezed me into the 830am appointments and i was generally able to catch a 10 or 11am train to the city. but since i told my job what was going on, it was pretty much expected.

i also found the saturday wait to be A LOT shorter. if i got the 9am saturday i never waited longer than a half hour total.

Re: question about dr b's office

Honestly, the waiting stinks! Chat Icon I found it easier to leave work a little early and get the later appointments. I don't mind waiting nearly as much if I'm not rushing to get back to work! The few times I had no choice but to take a morning appointment, I needed to take a half-day... Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: question about dr b's office

I have run into similar scheduling issues, but thankfully my principal is very supportive and looks passed the coming and going! The way I see it is .. it's worth it for the inconvenience to see Dr.B and thankfully my boss is good about it.

I run into the same issues. I finally just told my boss the truth because I was afraid she thought I was sleeping in or lying about being sick. It worked out a lot better than I thought it would. What are your work hours? Can you leave early or come in late and not have to tell anyone anything?

Anytime I go to his office (unless its the first appt) I wait at least an hour in the waiting room, then 15 minutes in the room and then usually don't leave for another 30 minutes so I understand, but my job is okay with it.

Re: question about dr b's office

Dealing with work is definitely stressful, but at this point, I have told my supervisors and our pseudo-HR person what is going on, and they are all supportive and understanding. I still find it stressful to miss so much work because I have to make up therapy sessions with my kids, fall behind on paperwork, etc., but somehow I just make it work. Needless to say, I will not have any personal days left at the end of the school year!

Re: question about dr b's office

I always tried to get the last appointment. I usually got the 4 or 4:30 appointment and was there till at least 6. I watch two kids so the parents have been great however with the new monitoring hours Im not sure what I will do. I may have to take the 2year old I watch with me to an early appointment. At this point IVF is more important then my job right now. I work for very supportive people so they totally understand that when I need off they will work with me. The waiting really stinks though!

Unfortunately I work 8:30-3 and I am hourly so if I am not there I am not getting paid. It's in the schools so I can't work any earlier or later than school hours.
