Question about donating placenta after you delivered

Did anyone do it?

After I delivered - a woman from the hosiptal came over to me - and wanted to know if I wanted to donate my placenta for research/lab purposes - apparently they make special creams from the cells in our placentas etc.... (gross!) and more - I totally didn't expect her to ask me that question - I thought it was automatically disposed in the garbage - so i signed a paper for them to dispose it - I didn't want anything made out of it..lol

Did anyone actually donate it to research?
After telling some people I had the hosiptal dispose of it - some told me it would of been a good gesture to donate....just wondering what you did..

No one asked me to donate the placenta, but I did look into cord blood donation. That's about it.

As for the creams...ewww....

Noone asked me this question. I am assuming they just disposed of it.

People do strange things with placentas. Yuck.

We had them dispose of it too.

I also read they make face anti wrinkle creams from the foreskin from baby circumsisions, didn't know about placenta creams, ewwwww
