Question about death.
So, yes, this is morbid, but as we know, life doesn't always go by our lifelong plans, so to consider the "what-ifs" is important. Anyway, have you and your DH/DW discussed where you would like to be buried (assuming you willl have a burial) if you died suddenly when you were still young.
I grew up on LI, DH is from Indiana and we currently live in OH. If God forbid, I died in the next few years, I'm not sure where I should be buried. I'm assuming my husband could possibly remarry and since I'm not from OH, it seems a random burial in OH would be odd. So would I be buried with my family (Dad passed away 2 years ago) in NY? Same with DH....would he be buried in Indiana where his relatives are?
I really don't mean to be so brutally morbid, but I'm just curious if you live OOS or have a similar situation, what your plans would be.

Re: Question about death.
Yes. We discussed it when my father passed away 2 years ago. We bought a double plot for him and my mother in the same cemetary as all my relatives (grandfather, great-aunts, great-uncles, etc.).
in the Chinese culture, you pay your respects to your deceased family members every spring, and I have to say that the tradition of it is wonderful and forces you to do something that you may not necessarily do on your own. We typically go 2-3x a year.
Because my family is all in one place, that is where we will buy plots. DH's family is all over and they do not have such a strong tradition of visiting at the cemetary so it is a no brainer for us.
I think the decision is much harder for you guys since you are both OOS.

Re: Question about death.
yes, we discussed this when our son passed away. My husband is from Utah, his father is buried in a REALLY tiny town there, so we buried our son there next to his grandpa. I want to be buried in the same cemetery as my son even though I have no connection to Utah.

Re: Question about death.
We've discussed it. We both want cremation. My Aunt and Uncle lost their daughter, and now they have been tied to LI for 25+ years, even though they really want to move OOS. I wouldn't want anyone to feel tied to a location just because my former shell is in the ground nearby.

Re: Question about death.
I have thought about this recently - I guess I am morbid too.
MY DH is from LI and we live on LI. My entire family is in S. FLa where I grew up.
On the one hand I would want my children to be able to visit my grave and I am sure DH will visit in the beginning. But if he remarries I am sure he would not visit as much.
If I was buried in FL then only my family there would visit but I know they would. I guess I just don't want to be one of those abandoned sites that never has flowers etc. Very sad...
now I 'm depressed.
