Question about Crib Bedding

I have been reading that drs. and other "experts" discourage parents from placing anything in the baby's crib except a tight fitting sheet over a mattress with a pad. They say a mesh bumper is fine as well. My question is--are you all following this advice or are you going to register for/purchase one of those 4-6 piece bedding sets that are just so cute?

Re: Question about Crib Bedding

well, those rules are mainly for the first 6 months... our crib converts into a toddler bed... so we registered for the comforter for that later time.

we WILL adhere to the 'only the fitted sheet' rule until scone can roll over on his own and not suffocate. No bumpers, pillows, or toys. I bought those sleep sacs for his early days.

When he is older, the pillows and blankets will come out......

Re: Question about Crib Bedding

I plan on using the co-sleeping in the very beginning and have registered for the whole set. Not sure if we'll leave the bumper on. Right now I think yes, but we'll see when what happens when meatball makes his appearance.

So you use the bumper as a newborn or after 6 months?

I think it attaches to the parent's bed to make breast feeding easier.

Re: Question about Crib Bedding

Bedding sets are really cute, but you know what, they are a complete waste!!

I bought a beautiful bedding set that contained the bumper, fitted sheet, comforter, diaper stacker and window valance and I only use the fitted sheet and bumper. The rest is a complete waste!

Save your money and get fitted sheets and bumpers only. JMO.
