Question about Carter's soft sole shoes

I am looking for a pair of 1st walking shoes for DS. I saw in BRU they have Carter's shoes that are soft with some rubber on the bottom. Are these supposed to be for walking around indoors only (ie: at daycare?) or not intended for walking at all? They are not crib shoes, they actually have some rubber on the sole but the majority of the bottom is the soft leather-like material.

It seems the other hard sole shoes are not flexible enough for someone who is learning to walk. Was wondering if anyone tried these Carter's shoes or should I just go directly to Stride Rite?

ETA: What are Robeez shoes and where can I find them? (If these are recommended). I see on BRU coupons they are not valid but I have never seen them at all.

Stride Rite shoes are crazy $$ IMO. I took DD to stride rite to get sized, then bought shoes at kohls.
I had soft leather bottoms for indoors (when she was still bet unsteady) then got rubber soles for outdoors/public places once she was off and running!

They have Robeez knockoffs at Target. Real ones at BBB/BRU

If you go to the stride rite in Deer Park Tanger or in the Lake Success shopping center in New Hyde Park those are outlet stores, so the prices are a bit more reasonable. Imo, buying stride rite for their first shoes is worth it. They are sized correctly, and are appropriate shoes for foot and muscle development. Hard soles are not good when they are learning to walk. You need a sole that bend and flexes with the baby's foot. When DS is inside, he never has shoes on, its better for their feet to develop.

DS had stride rite step 2 shoes when he started walking and walked outside with them with no issues.

DS used a pair of those when he first started walking - when he's take a few steps from object to object. We did use them outside a little bit.

When he started walking more, we bought shoes at BRU and Kohl's. Flexible but sturdy soles. Stride Rites are too pricey for the few months he'll be in them.

sride rite outlet has (or at least they use to have) robeez for the same price the target knock offs are.
dd had the target ones.
