Question about carpenter bees
We have a couple of carpenter bees in our deck. I have seen 2 bees and 2 holes, but I haven't seen them in a week or two (although honestly I am rarely outside by the deck, so I can't be sure).
If you see a couple of carpenter bees as I have, should I get an exterminator immediately or since I haven't seen them in awhile, could they have gone away? Do I need to definitely get an exterminator now or can I wait to see if they come back?

Re: Question about carpenter bees
I wouldn't get an exterminator right away. Get some spray (termite spray works for carpenter bees), spray it in the hole and the next day close up the hole. I heard to use steel wool in there.
Good luck. We have a bad case of them and I'm hoping that works for us.

Re: Question about carpenter bees
My mom has them.
We shoot their holes with WD-40, that kills them.
My exterminator friend said to then fill the holes with wood putty.
You can't really get rid of them though, they'll just build right next door to their old hole.

Re: Question about carpenter bees
But I am afraid the Queen will come flying out and attack. Is it safe to shoot stuff into the hole?

Re: Question about carpenter bees
They just fall out dead, I've never had a queen attack.
