Question about buying a car?
My Grandmother has a leased car. She no longer drives but she needs the car for her aide to take her around etc. Her lease is up in November. She would like to buy out the lease but needs to finance it, about $7000. Her driver's license is due to expire this month. So here is my question…do you need a valid driver's license to buy a car? Can she just have a NYS id? I hate to have her spend the money to renew her license when she has no need for it. TIA

You dont need a drivers license to buy a car, but you DO need one in order to register the car.
If she is going to be financing it, she would most likely need to register her it her name. There are ways around it, but it can get messy.
