Question about Britax Car seat installation

I installed the seat rear facing and I am confused about the versa thether strap. Did you attach it when the seat is rear facing? It looks so wierd with the two straps suspended across the top of the seat to behind the head rest of the back seat.

OR do you only use the tether when it is foward facing?

Re: Question about Britax Car seat installation

I believe with almost ALL carseats you only use the tether when it is forward facing. I have a graco seat that is rear facing and the instructions say NOT to use the tether

Re: Question about Britax Car seat installation

When it's rear facing, you can tether it to something on the floor or the car. We have dd's tethered to metal on the floor.

There is nothing to tether it to on the floor b/c it is in the middle.

I use the tether - you can either do it the way you have it or tether it to the track for the front seat (which tends to be easier to take DC in and out of the seat).

Tarabelle99 posted some good instructions about this in a post - I will see if I can find it and bump it.

Re: Question about Britax Car seat installation

Tether it with the Swedish method of tethering RF:

Take the D ring that is in the storage pocket for the tether and wrap that around a piece of the track which is anchored to the floor of the car for the passenger's seat (drivers if it is on the driver's side, passenger's is usually easier for middle though) attach the tether to that.

Pull the tether taut but NOT TIGHT. Pulling it too tight will change the angle of the seat's recline, possibly over reclining it.

The Australian method, where you bring the tether over and tether to the same spot on the back of the seat like in a FF install? Not a fan myself.

I've posted pictures of it before if you search my name.

PS: Only Britax, Combi Coccoro and Sunshine Kids Radians allow for RF tethering. (And I think the SIt and Stroll does but that's not a common seat round these parts)
