Question about Birth Announcements
I am starting to think about birth announcements for when the little one comes and I'm not sure what to do. I would like to send them, but I don't want people to feel that they need to send something. It would be nice to share the news with family and friends this way, but again, I don't want people to feel that it's angling for a present or anything like that. Did any of you feel like this? What do you feel people's reactions were?

I thought the same thing. I just sent it out anyway and you know what... I didn't get a gift from everyone I sent it to, which is fine b/c that was the point. We were so excited we sent out announcements to our family and friends.

I never felt obligated to send a gift because I received an announcement, I sent one if I was going to anyway and didn't if I wasn't! I say send them.

It never even occurred to me to look at it that way! I think people will send gifts regardless of whether you send birth announcements or not.

I did feel like that - like I was "asking" for a gift, but in reality, you are sharing good news. If people want to send gifts, they can - you are not asking for them! Don't feel bad about it.

I never expected gifts from it and I dont think people think that is the reason you are sending it out. Everyone loved getting our announcement and we did receive gifts but most were before it was sent.
