Question about Baby Gates and Stairs
Our stair railing ends at the bottom in a rounded post on one side, wall on the other. How does a gate work with the rounded post? Do they make special gates or does a regular old pressurized gate work?
I hope that makes sense, lol. Here's a pic of our stairs if it helps.
Thanks!

Re: Question about Baby Gates and Stairs
crashing
i have a similar stair situation and found a few different gates that have attachments or kits to help you install them correctly between a wall and rail.
For example (both from KidCo): stairway gate kit
Y-spindle installation
I don't know about other brands, i'd assume they have the same types of kits though.

Re: Question about Baby Gates and Stairs
I used the Munchkin LOFT Dark Wood Gate. It's a single hinge gate. The hinge part goes on the wall side and the part it attaches to is a long metal piece, maybe 12" long. I pre-drilled and screwed that directly into my spindle.
I'll attach the only picture I can find right now, even though it really doesn't show anything. I was setting up for a party, we don't usually have a couch in the way. If you'd like I can put up a better picture when I get home later.
This gate is perfect! It's made for the stairs and very sturdy. It was pretty easy to put up, looks great and works with a single hand, since most times I'm carrying DS with the other. We have one at the top and bottom of the stairs for safety. My mom put 2 in her house and my aunt is getting one for her house for her dog. We all love them so much!
I had purchased another one, but after I unpacked it, saw how many little pieces there were and how flimsy it seemed I returned it. I only found this one b/c they had it on display at the Buy Buy Baby in Westbury. If you go there be sure to bring a 20% off Bed Bath and Beyond coupon. Each gate is $140 but so worth it. It'll be up in our house for years.

Re: Question about Baby Gates and Stairs
Just wanted to add better pictures of my stairs and gate. Didn't get around to it last night. Here they are.
