Question about 6 months old eating schedule?
DD is just 6 months.
She eats cereal and a half a jar of fruit at around 8AM.
Then 8oz bottles at 11 and 3.
Her dinner is more cereal and a half a jar of veggies.
Last bottle is at 7.
When should I start giving her lunch?
Also, when should I increase the fruit/veggie and decrease the amount of cereal?
Can you share your 6 months old schedule so I can get an idea?

DS is 6 1/2 months old, and we started 3 meals at 6 months. This is his schedule:
8 - nurse
9:30 - 5 tbsp. oatmeal w/a half jar of fruit (sometimes I'll also add BM)
10:30ish - nap
12 - nurse
1 - lunch (a whole jar of either fruit or veggie)
2ish - nap
4 - nurse
5 - dinner (a whole jar of whatever he didn't have for lunch)
7 - 8oz. bottle
7:30 - bed
This is what we follow everyday, but some days the time is a little different.

Thanks for the reply. I think I'll start lunch today. For the jarred foods, do you use the stage 2 or stage 1?

I didn't really start feeding DS lunch until he was closer to 8 months or so. It just became obvious he needed more than bfast and dinner. I would work up to a full jar for those before adding a third meal.

Ansrea, thomas is only 5 months but my ped told me yesterday that he can eat 2-3x a day and in the sheet he gives us it says 6 months - stage II (dairy meats juice vitamins)

DS is on stage 2 foods, and has been for almost 2 months. Stage 1 just wasn't enough food for him.
ETA: Does your DD look for more food when you're done feeding her? My DS was always looking for more food, so that is how I knew it was time to move on to stage 2 (and our ped. said it was OK).

Maybe she should have another bottle, instead of adding another meal. DS' ped said that he should be drinking between 28-30 oz. of BM/FM a day, on top of the 3 meals.

Ann, I agree with this. It seems like she's not getting enough formula which is the most important "meal" for the first year of life. I have a chart that our Ped gave us and for Olivia's age, the minimum is 28ozs of formula. Just a little food for thought... although if your Ped didn't seem concerned then I guess you have no reason to be.
And as for the veggies/fruits, you can add more whenever you're ready. Cereal is basically just practice food. The fruits and veggies are better for her nutritionally. <-------is that a real word? lol

Hmmmm. She was having 4 bottles a day until about two weeks ago. She dropped one bottle. I go to the ped. on Thursday for her 6 month CU. I'll ask then. She's getting 24 oz which isn't too far off from the recommended 28. Also, she has about 5oz total of formula mixed into both her AM and PM cereal, so maybe that counts.

I would wait to talk to your ped next week before introducing a 3rd meal bc every baby is different. DD is 6 months and given 2 meals a day per doctor's orders. She is very small so he wants her primary nutrition to come from BM.
Her schedule is (roughly)
7 am- nurse
8:30- 2tbsp of oatmeal, 2 oz fruit
9-11 nap
11ish nurse
1-2:30 nap - I usually nurse her before she goes down and when she gets up.
3:00- 4oz of veggies and sometimes a snack in mesh bag (avacado, banana etc)
Then I nurse on demand for the rest of the night, she goes to bed around 7:00.

I would think that counts, especially if she always finishes her food.
I can't wait to hear her 6 month stats! She's always pretty close to what Lu's stats were.

Sometimes at those feedings after 12 he would only do 3 or 4 oz
Your schedule made me think if we do a solid at 12 it may help lose that 2pm bottle ( I feel like after 12 we are just doing bottle after bottle which makes it hard to go out and he seems so cranky and constantly hungry)
So today we did:
730 5oz and half jar and 7tsps oatmeal (mixed with 2 oz formula)
12 5 oz and whole jar and 3tsps oatmeal
4 pm 8oz and half jar and 7tsps oatmeal (mixed with 2 oz formula) we always offer 6 oz and ge wantes more this feeding and took 8
730 6oz
He hasnt been taking a full 6 oz in a while
So we will see how tomorrow goes and if he starts taking more fornula.

My dr said he should be doing 3 meals a day...
small bottle and food at each meal
(all times are kind of approximate)
7:30am - (breakfast) 5oz bottle and 5 tbsp oatmeal mixed with 3 oz formula
12:00 pm - (lunch)5oz bottle and yogurt or jar of stage 2 food
4:30pm - (dinner)5oz bottle and pastina or some other sort of table food
7:00 pm - 6oz bottle and bedtime.
