Question -- Dutalier Glider/Refiinishing Funriture

So, someone gave us a Dutalier Glider and ottoman that is in EXCELLENT condition. I am so grateful because it is not something that we could have afforded otherwise.

Here is my dilema -- the fabric is fine, but the wood is a very light oak colored. The furniture in the baby's room is going to be espresso with brushed nickel knobs (fairly modern looking). I don't think the light oak color works in the room (it looks more traditional or country).

My husband doesn't think that it is something that can be stripped and re-stained.

Should I:

-- Suck it up? It's a great, comfrotable chair and I should be happy to have it.

-- Attempt to paint it white? The window frames and closet doors in the baby's room are white and that might look okay.

-- Or start researching to see if a furniture refinisher can do anything about it?

Please let me know your thoughts or if you happen to know anything about refinishing furniture -- your advice.

Thanks!

I would research it first to see if you can restain it. But that might be a lot of work & might end up being more of a production than just leaving the glider alone to begin with.

If your research shows that it will be a pain in the azz to repaint it or you need all these materials, time, and outdoor space to do it, I'd just take it as is and use it. It's free why not?

I would just put it in the room and enjoy... as is. But things like everything matching in the baby's room doesn't really bother me. It sounds like a great chair and you're going to really enjoy it!
