Thoughts on either? We would be taking DD to celebrate her first birthday.. I know what the zoo has to offer but I am not sure about the museum.Chat Icon

Don't know about Queens zoo but the East End museum is fantastic for a 1 year old. It is small but very good for younger kids.

I don't know about the East End but love the Queens Zoo. They have enough animals there and it's not too big.

Re: Queens Zoo or East End Children's Museum

We took DS to the Queens Zoo for his first birthday. He loved it!
The walk around the zoo is not long so he was able to do most of it. Then we went to feed the animals and he thought that was a blast.
They also had a small carousel and train ride when we were there, which he loved as well.
Plus, you have the park if you feel like staying for a picnic after.

We've been back for DS's birthday every year since.

My only recommendation would be to get there early so you find a parking spot and the place is not too crowded. It did get filled up as we were leaving.

Loved the museum, no experience w/ the zoo. As long as your DC is mobile, the museum is very hands on fun. Different set ups for imaginative play and then a padded area w/ a slide and jungle gym.
