Q on inviting people for DD party

So, we have ZERO children in our family and DS and I have ZERO friends with children. Pathetic, I know. For her third birthday we want to have a princess party at our house, because it would make her so happy. The problem is we dont really know any other little girls to attend. I think after going through everyone we know, we could invite maybe 5 girls.
So, my question to you is should I invite the girls from her dance class? I make small talk with the mothers during the class, but it never progresses beyond talk about our children and we have not exchanged our names. No one else has had a party inviting us.
Would it be totally lame to invite them and would it put them in an uncomfortable position?

Would this be a family party? If so I think it would be uncomfortable to invite kids from the dance class unless you are super close to them.

Why not have the girls from her dance class over for a little afternoon Princess Tea Party on a seperate day?

Both my girls started dance at 3 and neither one of them really made friends with any of the children in the class. I never thought to invite any of those girls to their parties...and with DD#2's 4th b-day coming up I will not be inviting any of them.

If it were ME...mostly because I'm totally anit-social ...I would have the five girls she's already friends with. Or have strictly family. I think your DD at that age will be more excited by dressing up and having Princess plates and cups than she will having girls she really doesn't know well.

Buuuut...if you're looking to make more friends for you and for her, set up playdates, etc. then I would invite the dance girls. Who knows? You may end up forming some cool relationships!

I would do a family party. You can still do the Princess decoration theme for her.

you can always have your DD hand out the invitations. We've gotten invited to bday parties from dance before. It might even be a way to get more friendly with some of the moms and have little girls for your DD to play with.

Thank you for the thoughts. It will not be a family party, because feeding adults can be expensive. Lol. I know this will sound bad, but I'm not expecting to make friends with these people, although it would be nice. They would be more like seat fillers at the oscars. Since that sounds terrible to say, I think I answered my own question and should not invite them.

although it sounds like you've made your desicion - I thought I would add my 2 cents...

I would keep it at the 5 people you originally came up with, keep it small, save the extra $$.

My SIL has family party's and she was the first to have kids so her kids bday parties are mostly adults. There are total of 3 kids including my DD. My SIL still does a theme, since they are twins its princess and cars.

I like the idea the 1st poster said about afternoon princess party with her friends from dance class. You can just do cake and pizza? or tiny sandwiches.
