Q about broiling steak...

We have no grill or foreman-type thing either...

Sooooo - when I broil a steak in the oven - what do I put them on? Can I just put them on a cookie sheet? I have two little steaks for myself and DH - not a london broil or anything.

Thanks!

eta: I don't have a broiler pan.

Re: Q about broiling steak...

honestly, I think it would be best to invest in an inexpensive cast iron skillet.... broiling just isn't the same IMO.....

I use those aluminum broil pans from the dollar store. They have ridges so the fat can run off.

I broil in the oven and use these pans.
I line the bottom with foil and the fat drips into the bottom pan.

I generally grill skirt steak.
It's easy to clean and I soak it if it's really cooked on.

Nah - we rarely eat steak b/c I HATE broiling it - so we'll just sweat it out til we get a grill.

Yes, this is what I use too. If you do it on just a cookie sheet, it is sitting in its own grease Chat Icon . It needs to drop into the bottom pan.

Re: Q about broiling steak...

I'd invest in a good cast iron pan. Sear the meat on the highest heat possible and then pop the whole pan in the oven to finish it. Sometimes I prefer this method to the grill!
