Q about bassinet/carriage vs. using car seat attachment

I have a bugaboo frog which is currently in the full bassinet mode (ds is a month old). I also have the attachment to use the Snugride with the base. Should I switch to the car seat base thing? I guess the timing to use these two functions is the same, right? Unlike the stroller feature which we would use later on? (When do you start using it as a stroller anyway? Lol I am so clueless).

Would the car seat be more comfy for him on walks etc so he can start looking around at his environment? I feel like the bassinet is kind of dull- I mean he can't even see out, lol. But at the same time I have read some things about extended use of car seats not being good b/c of lowering oxygen levels...

I am so clueless on this stroller stuff.

Re: Q about bassinet/carriage vs. using car seat attachment

my mother insists that infants should lay flat until they can sit up. She looked at me in disgust when I said I was going to get the carseat attachment for our uppababy stroller.

ok.. ok.. mom, I'll lug that huge bassinet around with us ... sigh Chat Icon

The lugging is def an issue. Up until now DH has been around A LOT but this week he is getting back into work full swing and so I am no longer going to have a giant man carrying everything for me while I tote my purse, lol.

With my Uppa, I used the bassinet when I took walks esp when I thought DS would nap Chat Icon And I used the bassinet alot inside my house. I twas really convenient to be able to push him from room to room while he was sleeping. But as far as running errands I always used the car seat adapter.

I used the bassinet when I would go for walks in our neighborhood, in the house sometimes or when we went to people's houses so she could sleep somewhere. Whenever I was out running errands I used the Snugride attachment.

Re: Q about bassinet/carriage vs. using car seat attachment

Thx ladies. DH put on the car seat attachment and I realized how simple it is. I didn't think it would be so easy to keep switching. Bringing the full sized bassinet will DEF be useful for going places where ds needs a spot to snooze.

Re: Q about bassinet/carriage vs. using car seat attachment

I have a vintage peg perego baby buggy that I used for neighborhood walks (and to the supermarket) all the time, until DH was about 6 months. He loved looking up at the trees and clouds and it has a hood so I hung toys for him to look at and swat at. It was not my every day stroller but we did fold it up and bring it to some long term gatherings. Plus it was our downstairs bassinet/changing station. For running around, I use the infant car seat with a snap n go, still. And for neigborhood walks, parks and parties I use our peg perego pliko 3.

I loved using the bassinet in the house. If I needed to go in the kitchen I would take DS with me.

Re: Q about bassinet/carriage vs. using car seat attachment

It depends on what u are using it mostly for

I have the Big Frog and I live in Brooklyn. I took DS out in that stroller in the bassinet position EVERYDAY for extended times. I loved that he was comfy and could drift off to sleep. When he was about 6 months we switched to the sitting mode.

However, if u are driving and getting in and out of the car I would use the car seat
