q about 1 hour glucose test

is it fasting or not?


i had mine done a few days ago, non-fasting and i failed it. i am wondering if the test was done properly.

They say that you dont have to....
but I did it first thing in the morning, without eating.
Ive been told that is the way to go.

i also did it first thing in the morning before breakfast and passed with flying colors

basically my dr said if your typical breakfast is sugary cereal and you wash it down with glucola, you could fail just from the meal skewing the results

eta: it is a non-fasting test

Mine was fasting. I've heard of others which are not.

I did the 1-hr twice, not fasting. The first time at 12 weeks I passed no problem but the 2nd time at 27 weeks I failed.

I then did the 3-hr and passed.

How many points did you fail by? I failed by 5 pts and my Dr. said he was confident that I would pass the 3-hr as it wasn't a bad fail.

my dr. said do it first thing in the AM, so it will be "fasting" automatically..

i got 190 dr said 140 is the limit ugh... but i took this test at about 2 pm, obviously ate in the morning and also ate an apricot maybe like 20 mins before the test. maybe apricot affected it?

I had to fast 8 hours before and I passed.

They told me I didn't have to and I ate in the morning and failed and had to go for the 3 hr, so you're better off fasting.

they told me i didnt have to fast. i took mine first thing in the morning and failed. i ate a lot of sweets the day before so i think thats why i failed. i took the three hour on fasting 12 hours because that's what they said to do. i also limited sweets the day before. my 3 hour was completely normal.

I took mine at 4pm and did not fast. I ate a normal breakfast and lunch that day. My results were like 120 - passed with flying colors.

My doctor did tell me not to eat anything sugary that day, though - no cookies or ice cream before the test, for example. But I don't know if one apricot could throw it off. The "juice" you drank had WAY more sugar in it than the apricot, and the point of the test is to see how your body processes that sugar. 190 is pretty high.

Hope everything goes well with the 3-hour (I assume you're taking it soon?).
