Pumping Question- amount?
I EBF, but just started pumping once or twice a day. How many ounces, on average, would a 4-week old eat per feeding? DD presently eats for 20 minutes or so per breast, and it's about 3 hours from the start of one feeding to the start of the next.
Thanks!

Re: Pumping Question- amount?
I just started pumping as well last week and DS is 4 weeks. You should get about 4 ounces or so when you pump. I get about 4-5 ounces when i pump in between feedings. A 4 week old will eat 3-3.5 ounces every 3 hrs. It also depends on their weight. There is a chart in the breastfeeding book (which has been extremely helpful) "The nursing mothers companion" that tells you how much a baby should be drinking according to weight.

Re: Pumping Question- amount?
my DS ate 3 oz every 2-3 hours at 1 month... two weeks later he is on almost 4 oz... I usually get about 6-8 oz when I pump every 4 hours...
