Pumping Question
I have been back to work for 3 months pumping 3x a day Monday - Friday and I have noticed the past 2 weeks I have had to pump for longer periods of time in order to be able to get my 16oz I need for the next days bottles. I already switched out my membranes but I am wondering if I am supposed to switch out all the parts after a few months? If I am, does Medela provide these if I call them or will I have to buy them in the store? I do not think this is a supply issue because when I am with DS he is not nursing any more often or longer than usual. I am thinking its something with the pump for sure. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Re: Pumping Question
You do not need to switch out the other parts unless maybe something is cracked - and if you do you will need to buy them.
I would suggest calling Medela and they will walk you through troubleshooting with the pump so you can figure out if it is a mechanical issue.
Also remember that a baby is much more effective than a pump, so even though you LO is nursing for longer, doesn't mean it won't take longer to pump.

Re: Pumping Question
ITA with the above post - the pump isn't the same as the baby nursing.
I would try a power pump - 10 mintues on, 10 minutes off, 10 minutes on, repeat as necessary. This always worked to increase my supply when things went down a bit.
Regarding the pump - I think the membranes were the only thing that had a big effect.
If you are getting your period - that sometimes decreases production or if you aren't feeling great - that always decreased my supply.

Thanks, do I just call the general customer service number on their website? I got the pump thru my insurance so not sure if that matters.
