Pumping Help
DD is now just about 16 months old and has not taken in a bottle in months (I am still BF). I am still pumping once a day at work just because I am too scared to stop for fear of getting mastitis. I work an 11 hour day (including commute) and I have been pumping one ounce per side. I just had a bout of mastitis, so I would really like to avoid it at all costs! Today is the first day I am going to try not to pump at all, but I am so scared…although I know that I have to stop at some point! Any advice that you could give would be greatly appreciated! TIA!

Pumping Help
Can you try to gradually cut down the amount of time that you pump? For instance, if you normally pump 20 minutes, cut down to 15 for a day or two and then 10, etc.

This is what I did when I began the process, first cutting out pumping sessions, but since you are at one I'd slowly start to go down in terms of time. I never had issues, but since you have in the past, I'd say take your time in stepping down. Maybe expressing a bit manually or massaging will help avoid issues? Good luck!

Pumping Help
Cabbage leaves in your bra. Eat peppermints. Avoid warm water on your breasts if possible. You can also try taking a decongestant to dry you up.
I went from once a day, to every other day. Did that for about a week and then I didn't have to pump for a week. On the 7th day, I was leaking a lot and felt like I needed to pump so I did. That was about 10 days ago and I'm not leaking or feeling full at all so I think I'm done.

Re: Pumping Help
Thank you so much. My LC actually recommended the mints and the decongestant. I just keep forgetting to put them in my work bag! Yesterday, I didn't pump and I was OK. I will try again today. I know that it will take some time for my body to adjust. Hopefully it will all be OK!
