When did you start and how many ounces did or do you get?

Pumping

I didn't get my electric pump until DD was about 6 weeks old. I would pump once a day a few times a week and usually got about 3-4 ounces.

Re: Pumping

I started the first week. DD was latching but not staying on and she was favoring the left over right breast. I haven't kept up with it since early on when we established a good rhythm.

I'm going back to work next week and am trying to pump twice a day to build up a bit of a supply. I don't get a lot. The most from one session is 4 ozs and generally two or less.

Was that 3-5 ounces in one session?

Yes, one session. It was usually a little over 3 ounces combined from both sides. I would pump about 30 minutes after DD finished her first morning feeding so that I would have at least an hour before her next feeding.

I started pumping around 4 weeks. I was very full and had a forecful let down so I would pump a litlte before nursing. Then I'd pump about 30 minutes afteer feeding DS. I was getting 6-8 oz during my pumping sessions. I didn't do the pumping after he ate every day; maybe 4-5 x a week

Pumping

I started pumping from the day DD was born. In the beginning I would have to pump 20 min on each side and I'd get 2-4 oz. DD is now 12 wks and it only takes 5-7 min each side and I get 5 oz.

Wow, I'm jealous! DD is almost 5 weeks old and I'm only getting about 1 ounce. Her pediatrician told me that drinking more water will help.

Re: Pumping

When DD was 4-5w I could get 4oz. Typically pumped on one side at a time though. Now at 9w I can get 5-7oz in 15-20 minutes if I pump both sides simotanrously.

Best thing to do is to drink water. A good friend (Dr.) said that I should drink 12oz after each feeding session to ensure your supply stays sufficient, This can be juice, water, or Gatorade. Also, it is best to pump in the morning or afternoon. Your supply will naturally diminish in the evening/night.

Same here. I also tend to get more in the morning about 6-9 oz. Im drinking water, Gatorade and even a non-alcoholic beer to help my supply when I see it going down.
