Here's the thing about Pull ups.
They are just a glorified diaper.
I don't plan to use them when I full on potty train because IMO it's the same as a diaper.
She needs to be able to feel she is wet.
Otherwise, what difference does it make if it's a pull up or diaper- she will just pee in and move on just like she does in her diapers.

I put them on DD occassionally now at 19 months. We're not full on potty training, but she has pooped and peed in the potty. A pull-up is just a diaper, but it's much easier to pull up and down when training than a regular diaper. So I put them on DD when I think she may be willing to use the potty.

Thanks for your feedback...My DD is no where near potty trained she is 2.5 yrs old. I wanted to see if this would help her. My sister said the same thing that it should be used once she is trained.

Never used them. We did 3 day potty training with DD and got rid of diapers.

Never used them. I agree that they are basically the same thing as a diaper, we just went straight to underwear.

Same here. I threw out all of ds' day time diapers when he was a few months shy of 3 & we never looked back, but I started using pull-ups at night then.

DD is 3 and for the last 4 days has been day trained. She is in big girl underwear. We still put he rin her Dora "underwear" for naps and bedtime. We just call them undies so she isn't confused. When we attempted potty training a few months ago we called the Dora pull ups pull ups and she knew she could go in them. I don't dislike them, but we have had great success with just regular undies during the day. She has had 2 accidents, but is now understanding she can hold it and go to the potty even if she starts to piddle.

We started at about 2 1/2. We used the ones with cool alert and I think they really make a difference. DD will still tell us that she has to go potty even though she's wearing the pull up. We also use the night time ones since she's not closed to being trained at night yet. I think it really depends on the child if pull ups are a waste or not.

I agree. I tried to do the 3 day training (sort of) a few months shy of 3. DS did very well. I did use the pull-ups when we had to go out. I just couldnt (wouldn't) chance him peeing all over the car or wherever.
Now I really want to get rid of the pull ups. DS is in underwear all day and has no accidents for a long while now. He is dry a lot at night but not every night. We are thinking of getting rid of the night time pull ups. But, DS refuses to poop in the potty. He won't poop in his pants but will ask for a pull up when he needs to poop. I have tried a number of times telling him we have no more and he'll have to go in the potty, but then he holds it in and 2 days later he's crying because his belly hurts. Just not sure how to end the cycle- but, since I know he is able to control his bladder and bowel, I'm just hoping that he will tell us when he is ready. (i know several people who have said that is what happened with them.)

I bought them and hardly used them. They really are just a diaper.
When I started potty training I went all the way and threw out all the diapers. Didn't even put one on at night. I just dealt with the accidents till they stopped. I think this was the best way and he learned really fast.
