Pug Prayers Needed - UPDATE
Last night around 915p I believe Roxy (our Pug) had a seizure. She was sleeping on my lap and then woke up and basically fell off my chair and started to convulse and was having trouble moving, then with in 30 min it had basically passed and she was just laying there and wouldn't get up. I was home alone and called the emergency vet and they said that it what it sounded like and to see if she calms down and starts to appear normal again, that she is probably scared. She did return to normal around 1020 and I called them back, they said that I should bring her in today. I googled her symptoms and pug related illness, it seems like either she just had a seizure or it could be the start of a brain swelling disease, which they can look into with blood work or a type of CAT scan I believe. If it is just seizures (which is the better of the 2, but still not good) they can be 'controlled' with a perscription. She scared the crap out of me last night and I cried for most of the rest of the night and was on the phone with my mom when I wasnt on with the Vet. I went from relaxing and having a glass of wine to panic mode. I will let you know how it goes. But please keep your postitive thoughts with us today! __________________________________________ Update-
Roxy's blood work came out ok!!! No issues, and she is in "otherwise good health"!
We have to continue to use the seizure meds and just really watch her for more seizures. I am happy that we are able to treat this and hope it goes no further!

Re: Pug Prayers Needed
I'm so sorry! I know people with dogs that have seizures and the best thing you can do is stay calm and watch. Make sure you keep note of what time it starts, what time she starts to come out of it, and what time she appears to have recovered.
Also, google the relation of seizures to dry dog food. Something about it raising the temperature of their body...?
My thoughts are with you, hoping it's an isolated incident and she feels better soon.

Re: Pug Prayers Needed
The same thing happened with our dog Milo, a long hair chihuahua. He has a seizure out of the blue on day and then had a nother one a week later. And after many tests and vet visits, it ended up being he had liver shunt disease. I am not trying to scare you - the disease it totally treatable with diet- but I tell you this information so that you can rule this out also. Please mention it to your vet and they can see if he has the liver disease through a blood test. Good Luck and I hope your dog feels better soon!

Re: Pug Prayers Needed
Roxy is home. We took her to the Sayvile Animal Hospital.
She had blood work and an ECG. We won't get the blood test results till tomorrow. She does have an enlarged heart (which happens in pugs at times), and a mass between her stomach and intestine. We do not know what the mass is, and have to wait till we get the blood results, to see if that shows any abnormalities in it.
She does have a seizure disorder and is now medicated for that. As a side note, Dr. D'Martino told us that the best thing to do if she has a seizure is to basically watch her, shut off any sounds (tv, radio) and not talk to her or touch her. Pay attention to the time frame of it happen, and wait it out. If it gets to more than 20 minutes of her being 'out of it' bring her to the emergency of regular vet, ASAP.
THANK YOU for all the positive thoughts and prayers. I am nervous, but happy that I was here when it happen so that we know there is a problem.
I really appreciate all the comments and suggestions. I was so scared last night and all day, and honestly I am worried about getting the blood test results tomorrow.
