Is it possible to have your life kept private?

It's scare when your husband & my family gets threats about his private life because of degenerates he treats at his job!

I truly don't need this shit after the week I've had!

Sorry this is happening and yes it is possible to remain private online. In re: to FB either change ALL settings to private, delete your account or use an alias. I know some people use a fake last name on FB for privacy purposes. I would also avoid using your real name anywhere online.

Perform a google search on yourself and DH and see what information is returned. If possible edit these sites to change your name.

I think I'm missing something on FB, because his boss said they could view his account.

So, I don't know if I'm missing a setting?

Make sure everything is set to FRIENDS ONLY.

If he is friends with his boss/coworkers, then they can view his profile.

On FB you need to set your account to "Friends Only" view so that anyone outside of the friends list cannot see anything. You'll need to pretty much set everything on there so that only friends can see it. In addition, you can actually control how you are searched so that people can't search you via name or e-mail address. If your DH's boss is friends with him on FB, then they will see his page.

Oh....so friends of friends can see a profile.

That's crazy!

But doesn't explain this person being able to view his account. Unless they are a friend of a friend

I have a friend who changed two letters of her last name on FB. So, friends still know who she is, but would be almost impossible for a person to Google it if they don't know about it.

If your last name is Person, change it to Parsen or Persan... or something like that

Also if he posts on anyone else's wall, the privacy settings of that post are determined by the person whose wall he posted.

So if he & I were friends and he posted about the degenerates at work on my wall, if it was set to anyone can view, then it's viewable by anyone.

UNDER PRIVACY SETTINGS he should also click on Limit the Audience for Past Posts

I also do not have my last name listed. I have a variation of it. I also never list people as my relatives (mother's maiden name is a security question for a lot of websites).

How do I prevent search engines (e.g., Google) from showing my public search listing?
By default, a public search listing is created for all Facebook accounts that belong to users 18 years of age and older. If you do not want people to be able to find you in a search engine result, please take the following steps:

Click "Edit your settings" for the "Applications and Websites" section at the bottom of your main Privacy Settings page.
Scroll down to "Public search" and click "Edit Settings".
Un-check the box next to "Enable public search". Please note that if you uncheck this box, people who do not yet use Facebook won’t be able to find you. Allowing your friends to find you both on and off of Facebook may make your experience more meaningful.

When i found some of my posts popping up on google i changed my last name to a ficticious one. No one can search for me either, so if im not friends with you already it aint gonna happen now. Which is fine by me!
