Proteins - finger foods
DD is turning 8 months. For the past few weeks, we have had a lot more success giving her small bites of food or really chunky purée over smooth purée.
I am still at a loss though with proteins. She can't seem to "gum" chicken and just sort of gags on the stringiness of it. Eggs just sort of stick to the inside of her mouth and are too dry to get down. Same thing happened with the shells on lentils.
Any advice on how to introduce meats and other proteins?
FYI, DD is milk allergic so no dairy products.
TIA!

Proteins - finger foods
I've always given DD a lot of peas because they have a decent amount of protein (plus they're cheap, easy, and she likes them). DD has never been a big fan of meat but she seems to like pork best of all and will eat tiny chunks of sausage or ham. You can try dark meat chicken since that's not as dry as the breast. I also give DD barilla plus pasta for the extra protein (you can just add a little olive oil). Can you give yogurt? With the eggs are you doing them scrambled? It took a little time, but now DD loves them. Keep in mind, they get most of their protein from bm or formula at that point so even if she takes in very little it's fine.

I first started DS on ground turkey, mixed into his pureed veggies. He gagged at first, but after a few tries he became a pro.

Lentils! My DD loves them! I buy the Goya brand dried lentils and follow he directions on the package for cooking. If you over cook slightly, they are mushy. I flavor with a touch of salt & garlic powder. My DD still loves them now at 2. Plus they are really healthy.

I bake my eggs in muffin tins with olive oil and shredded zucchini. Definitely not dry!

Re: Proteins - finger foods
Thank you everyone for the suggestions!
We can't give her yogurt yet.
I will hit the grocery store today so I can cook up some goodies over the weekend!
