Props to my co - Lactation program
I just found out that my company has a great lactation program to support pregnant women. It includes:
- Lactation Kit including: Water bottle Tote bag Book, Breastfeeding: A Parent’s Guide Five life articles, Returning to Work as a Nursing Mother, Breastfeeding and Business Travel: Making it Work, Ways to Support a Nursing Mother, Expressing and Storing Breast Milk, Breastfeeding Resources
- Telephone consultations with a certified lactation consultant, including: One prenatal consultation call from a lactation consultant to the expectant mom.
- Unlimited calls from the mom to a lactation consultant to answer questions for up to 6 months after the baby’s birth.
- One consultation call from a lactation consultant to the mom in preparation for return to work.
Telephone consultations are designed to support your needs as you or your spouse/partner begin to breastfeed during parental leave and help you or your spouse/partner prepare to return to work as a nursing mother. When you enroll, a lactation consultant will contact you for your first consultation.
- An option to purchase a portable, professional-grade Medela Pump In StyleTM breast pump in your choice of three different styles. (One pump per pregnancy) See options below for additional information. The employee/spouse/partner co-pays a fee of $125 for the pump of choice and the co assumes remainder of the cost. The manufacturer’s warranty on the breastpump motor is good for one year from the purchase date. The manufacturer’s warranty on accessories is good for 3 months from the purchase date.
Anyone else have something similiar?. You should definitely check with your HR. I am so thrilled to find this program. I had registered for the Medella pump and it retailed for $320.

Re: Props to my co - Lactation program
All we get is a lactation room...which I think is quite nice considering the fact that such HUGE corporation like the one I work for does NOT have a maternity leave program.

That is wonderful. I had to use an executive phonebooth! At least it was private and kind of spacious.
I was so surprised that a huge company I work for would be so backwards when it came to Bf'ing.

Re: Props to my co - Lactation program
The lactation program offered for my company provides telephonic lactation consultation by a Registered Nurse who is also an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. The fee is $380 paid by the employee. I think that may be high but I have no idea. Is it?
The lactation consultant provides assistance to the expectant Mother at specific durations during her pregnancy. Services provided are:
One prenatal call within 1 week after receipt of enrollment
One call within the first 2-weeks after baby’s birth.
One Return to Work call within 2-4 weeks of return to work date
Prenatal Information Pak mailed upon enrollment includes: Bag Medicine Dropper Corner Cushions Blind Cord Wind-Ups Object Tester (to prevent choking hazards) Outlet Plugs (5) Red Cross Posters (CPR/First Aid) Pregnancy Calendar Night Light Motherlove Product Brochure Natura Flow (CD) Disposable Nursing Bra Pads Nipple Cream Help Sheets (Articles on pregnancy and breast feeding)

Not sure if this is high, ours is free. But the pak includes a lot of things, which is great!

I am going to ask around to see if the price is high. The oack comes with a lot of stuff but not sure it is enough to warrant spending a few hundres dollars.

Do you work for Newscorp, by any chance? We are in the exact same situation overhere. And by lactation room I mean a one stall bathroom that locks, has a Medela Symphony breastpump base and a bunch of parenting magazines. Better than nothing though...
I just sneak into empty offices.
