Property Taxes
i'm not sure if its the same everywhere but can someone explain to me how they come up with the amount you will be paying in property taxes when you are buying a new home?
the way it was explained to us was kind of confusing....

we were told that you can't go by what the owner paid the previous year...
when someone has been living there they can only raise their taxes a certain % so the previous might be paying less than what we will end up paying b/c they have been there for awhile and they get protected by that max %....also we were told it has to do with the price we pay for the house - then we would have it homesteaded (i think that means its your primary residence?) and then i guess it there is some kind of appraisal done?
i dont know, im just confused all around about it
if the taxes are going into mortgage how is the amount we are going to pay each month determined? does it go by what the owner has been paying and then do we start fresh as the new owners the following year?
am i even making sense?

Re: Property Taxes
you are looking in FL right?
NY has no homesteading - which FL has
which county are you looking in?
they are all different in FL
I can maybe point you in the right direction
I know in Palm Beach CO- you taxes are 2% of your purchase price
