Progesterone Level for CD21
they called me at home - yeah - because i only told you i'd be at work until 4:30 - and to call me there....UGH.
my level was 8.2 and that's considered 'normal' for this time.
i guess that's a good thing?

Re: Progesterone Level for CD21
This is what I read:
Hormone To Test: Progesterone (P4) Time to Test: 7 dpo Normal Values: > 15 ng/ml What Value Means: A progesterone test is done to confirm ovulation. When a follicle releases its egg, it becomes what is called a corpus luteum and produces progesterone. A level over 5 probably indicates some form of ovulation, but most doctors want to see a level over 10 on a natural cycle, and a level over 15 on a medicated cycle. There is no mid-luteal level that predicts pregnancy. Some say the test may be more accurate if done first thing in the morning after fasting.

Re: Progesterone Level for CD21
Mine came back as 6 or 7 when it was tested so my RE has added Progesterone to the routine (2 days post IUI)...but then you can't test the level CD21 so you take it until the Beta results...not the greatest plan to know what's going on but WHATEVER at this point!! Shawnna

Re: Progesterone Level for CD21
8.2 is slightly low-you should probably be on supplementary progesterone in you rnext TTC cycle

Re: Progesterone Level for CD21
then shouldn't they have said that? I'm NOT doubting anyone at all - sincerely...but their exact words -
blood work today looks good - it's an 8.2 for the progesterone and that's a normal value for this time.
Shouldn't they have said - we may need to talk more with your next cycle - or anything like that??
Dear Lord - my first message and i'm already reading a lot into it....i'm in for a LONG haul.

I also think 8.2 is low. When I had it done I was at 20. I would definitely follow up and ask your RE.

Re: Progesterone Level for CD21
Don't despair yet! I was told that my number (6 or 7) was an indication that I ovulated but that my body probably isn't producing enough natural progesterone so that they would supplement it with future cycles...they may just be waiting to see how the cycle goes before they bombard you with tons of info. Keep us posted!! Shawnna

I am sayng it is a little low. I would say to your Dr I have been talking to friends and reading online and it seems the standard for Progesterone after O is 10 on a non medicated cycle and 15 on a medicated cycle. I would like to be on supplementary progesterone next cycle and see how that affects my numbers. he should not have an issue with it as it has been shown to be totally safe in the early stages of pregnancy evidenced by the millions of women who have used it safely for IVF cycles

Jess - I agree with this. You already know you have a short LP, being on progesterone supps, should help with that.

Re: Progesterone Level for CD21
are the supplements something I can take starting at any time - or is it important to take them CD1, CD80, etc??
In other words - i have to call the doc's office to start the ball rolling on that clomid 'challenge' on CD1 - can it wait until then?
Based on my CM and other feelings - i'll be spotting by tomorrow or Saturday - with full flow by Monday.

Re: Progesterone Level for CD21
I agree, I think 8.2 is a little low. They do like to see it above 10.
If you are on progesterone suppositories, they will start them the day after your IUI, if you are doing IUI...or if you're doing a natural cycle, probably after you ovulate...
Its not a big deal, don't worry about it at all
