Prescription formula questions for those who have used it...
We have a ped appointment tomorrow for to follow up on his change in formula. He still doesn't seem to be taking to the Nutramagin well... Here are a few questions I have...
Would Similac Alimentum be any different from the Enfamil Nutramagin?
If they send us to a gastro, what are they going to do?
How does it work with the precsription formula? Is it powder or RTF?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Prescription formula questions for those who have used it...
Hi there--We can each answer you only based on our own experiences (unless we hear from someone who has formal training in this area). Soooooo, based on my experience with my DS, here is what I have to say........

I am pretty sure that you will not find a difference.
If they send us to a gastro, what are they going to do?
It really depends on what the gastro sees. My son did have invasive tests but those were not just because of the milk protein allergy. He also had projectile vomiting and they wanted to rule out a condition called pyloric stenosis. For the possible milk protein allergy, they will check the stool. If you can stand it, bring a recent poopy diaper to the appointment. They will test it for blood. If you do not have a recent poopy diaper, there is some chance they will have to insert a finger. Sorry to be graphic but I'm glad we knew to bring a diaper. My DS is slow to gain weight and they check his weight at every appointment. Thw worse part of the entire thing is that they want a very accurate weight, so when he was smaller he was freezing!! Oh, we learned to bring a blanket so that when we undressed him, we could cover him until the doctor was completely ready.
How does it work with the precsription formula? Is it powder or RTF? The 2 common Rx formulas that I know of are both powder.
Thanks in advance!
