my GD test is tomorrow at 6:30pm (right after work). Should I eat / not eat right before it?
My Doctor isn't making me fast before the test
TIA

I was told I didn't need to fast before the 1 hour. but I failed it. So don't do a long fast but I wouldn't eat an hour before it.

my doc told me to eat something but to make sure its not sugary.. i would just make sure whatever you have been eating during the day doesn't have much sugar in it... i had a bowl of oatmeal before i went and i passed.

Re: "preparing" for the 1 hour GD test ...?
You shouldn't eat for 3 hours before the test if you want an accurate result. Anything closer than that and you're risking it skewing your test results, although only minorly depending on what you eat. If you want to help keep the resultås "pure" then don't have carbs or sugars the day of the test (within 12 hours of the test) -- stick with protein. The screening is only supposed to measure how your body handles the glucose drink preparation in the one hour, not whatever else you've eaten that day, which is why eating carbs or sugars before it can change the results. I did mine first thing in the morning and stopped eating about 10 hours beforehand the night before. Mine was Friday, though, and I haven't had the results this pregnancy. But I did the same last pregnancy.

I was told I didn't have to fast. And for a few days leading up to the test to limit sugars and pair carbs with proteins. I've read you shouldn't eat 2 hours prior to the test. I ended up going first thing in the morning which was a fast. I failed the 1h and had to take the 3hr. LIke a pp mentioned is measuring how your body responds to the sugar so there's no prep only helps so much.
