Preparing a toddler for the arrival of a new baby.

Can anyone recommend anything for doing this or any books I can read? DS is 2.5 and will be almost 3 when his new baby brother arrives. We've talked about the new baby, moved DS to his big boy room, and everything seemed to be going well but now DS is saying things like "MY Mommy," and "Ryan's crib" even though he sleeps in a big boy bed now. I don't know if I should stop talking about the baby or what.

I also wanted to get him a little baby doll for when the baby arrives so that he can have his own baby but of course DH doesn't like that idea. Chat Icon

Any suggestions on how I can prepare DS for this new arrival would be much appreciated. Thanks!!!!

DH didn't like the idea either of DS having a doll but let me tell you....it was the best idea I had!!!! He had his baby and I had mine. We practiced changing dolly's diaper, putting dolly to bed, holding dolly. I really think it helped a lot.

However, we now have the issue of dolly being in the jumperoo when one of the twins needs to go in there. Chat Icon

Also, I delivered at Good Sam and they had a sibling class that DS really enjoyed.

Thanks! I'll check my hospital to see if they have a class. Did you get the doll before the babies were born or when they came home?
