prengnancy and vacuuming

Has anyone else ever been told not to vacuum while pregnant? By either a friend, family member or a doctor. Not because you are on bedrest but because it's just not good for pregnant woman. Just curious.

i would say it's fine unless you're one of those people (like me) who start getting contractions when they do anything physically demanding...

Nope. I don't think there would be anything wrong with it, as long as you don't have complications, and you're not lifting a ridiculously heavy vacuum.

Did someone tell you this isn't good? Just curious.

I've never heard of that before and I've been vacuuming the entire 9 months!

No, you can vacuum as long as you have been told not to do any physical activiy and are a high risk patient.

My friend told me this and I was really hoping to hear things like "oh you should definatly not vacuum while pregnant!" But it's not looking that way.

Re: prengnancy and vacuuming

I was told following my IVF not to vacumn or lift anything over 10lbs. I was also told not to swim or take baths. I had my last appt with RE today and I am now being "handed over" to OB/GYN. I am now allowed to bath & swim. I however did not bring up the subject of vacuming as DH seems to be doing such a great job of it Chat Icon I think it would be fine, but check with your Dr just in case

Vacuuming is a heck of a lot easier than taking care of a toddler!

Never heard of this one...I vacuum every other day, clean, lift things, etc...but I know that everyone's pregnancy is not the same, but unless you were put on bedrest I wouldn't worry about it...

Hehe...My mom told me this during one of my scares a few weeks ago....(I had a lot of bleeding and was told to rest - even though resting won't save you from a M/C.) My mom asked me if I was resting and I said, "Yeah, all I did today was vacuum." She FLIPPED, saying, "That's too strenuous for you to be doing.. No more vacuuming for you...how could you do that? Don't you know what rest is? Vacuuming....don't you know better?" Good news is vacuuming didn't cause a m/c....we're happily at 9w2d!

The only vacuum - pregnancy related thing I've ever heard is that you can't vacuum for a while after a c-section b/c of the stitches. Sorry - vacuuming's a go (unless you're on bedrest or something).
