Prenatals make me sick
Hi Ladies, I am currently taking the prenatal vitamins that my Dr prescribed for me but they are making me soooooo nauseous!! I cant take it anymore. I have tried eating with them as well as switching to taking them at night and all that did was wake me up 3 times ready to vomit!! Anyone have any suggestions of vitamins that are easy on the belly???

Re: Prenatals make me sick
I take citranatal harmony. It's never been the cause of any sickness as far as I know.

Re: Prenatals make me sick
Is that the one with the stool softener in it and does it have DHA in it as well?

I have a sensitive stomach. The Citranatal Harmony are good or when ms is overwhelming, Flinstones work.

Re: Prenatals make me sick
Honestly, with my son I switched to chewable vitamins and took a folic acid and DHA separately (since they were small). You can try that. Over the counter and prescription when it comes to prenatals makes no difference. All prenatals are is extra folic acid (you need a minimum of 400iu I think might be 600 and some have 800?).

Re: Prenatals make me sick
I think I have a sample of Citranatal Harmony at home that the Dr had given to me. Maybe I will try that. I cant take the MS mixed with nausea for the prenatals anymore!! I am miserable!! I also heard about chewing 2 flinstones too. Is that true?? What else would I need to take with it?

you can do the chewables.. but you will need extra folic acid.. you will need a minimum of 400mcg of folic acid.. most prenatals are 600 and above, I think. I use the Target brand and Expecta DHA.. so tummy issues. My dr. was ok with it.. infact she used it with both her kids.. so I didn't switch.

Re: Prenatals make me sick
im not going to lie...i took flinstones + dha + folic acid for my last pregnancy...LOL if you compare flinstone vitamins to a prenatal they have the EXACT same ingredients except for folic acid and dha- but you can supplement it - my doc was perfectly fine with it...

Re: Prenatals make me sick
Wait..so Buttercup...You used Target brand prenatals or chewables kids vitamins?? I have a prescription for additional folic (1mg) that I take every day already on top of the vitamins that make me sick. So if I stop the bad vitamins and take the extra folic and what else??

I use the Target brand prenatals and I take a separate DHA pill since the one I use does not have it. The Target brand has 800 mcg of Folic acid in it. Also, just be careful about how much and what type Vitamin A is present in the prenatal. From what I read, Beta Carotene is best, since that that is form we get in food. And since we have to up our calcium intake as well.. milk also has Vitamin A in it.. not too much but you want it all to be within a range.. kwim?
But before you switch, touch base with your dr. about tummy issues.. feel better
