Prenatal Yoga
Anyone do it??? I definitely miss working out and I know this is supposed to be pretty good. I'm beginning to feel random aches and I feel like it might be because I'm not doing much. I'm a huge fan of at home workout DVDs so if anyone has a recommendation that would be great!

I LOVE prenatal yoga!! I'm not an in shape person, but I did prenatal throughout all my pregnancies and it helped me so much! I don't have any experience with DVDs, but I go to a studio in Farmingdale. Let me know if you want the info!

Re: Prenatal Yoga
I live in queens so farmingdale wouldn't work for me. I know of a place by my job that I can do it but I know if I get busy at work I won't go during my lunch break which is why I considered DVDS. I've always enjoyed working out in my own living room :)

Prenatal Yoga
I have been contemplating prenatal yoga and when I am further along, I might look into it.
Also - You can continue your regular exercise routine. I currently run 25-30 miles a week and lift 2 times a week - I am 23+ weeks pregnant. (This is less than I used to do - I used to do 45+ miles a week.)

I do both prenatal Pilates and yoga. I did Pilates before getting preg so just continued with same only a bit more modified for preg. I really love Pilates and feel really invigorated after a workout. Yoga I do not like but it is very good in learning to breath and preparing for a delivery so that is why I do it. Also it helps with relaxing and stretching all those achey muscles. Def do it. I wouldnt do an at home DVD as I am scared not positioning my body correctly and doing something wrong. Having a licensed prenatal trainer makes me feel much more confident and secure. But this is JMO.

This makes me feel better that I'm not the only one! I was training for a half marathon when I got pregnant…stopped for my first tri, but now have enough energy to run again!! Are you doing anything different? I have a belly band (don't need it yet) to run, and a heart rate monitor, but is there anything else? Thanks! and good for u!!!

ok so heres my deal... i was working out solid 5 days a week up until august of last year (HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!) I start slacking a bit because life got a bit hectic. i still tried to get in some weigh lifting and cardio here and there. once holidays hit i wasn't doing much of ANYTHING. Ive always heard u can continue to workout once your preggo but being that i haven't consistently done much in a few months, can i really pick up where i left off? thats why i was considering something a little lighter. I love lifting weights and i actually miss it. I know i wouldn't be able to lift as much as i was but it would be great if i could continue to some extent.

I did IVF so I did very limited physical activity for 6-7 weeks. The RE said I could resume running and if I felt uncomfortable to listen to my body. I started off slowly and am in no way doing speed work just some slow miles. I think you should be fine, but ask your doctor.

I wore a heart rate monitor at first now I really just use perceived exertion. If I feel like I am pushing it too much, I back off. I used to run 7:30-8:30 pace and now I am around 9:45-10:15 pace. I also am now primarily on the treadmill which I hate, but it is icy and snowy where I live. Better safe than sorry. As of now, I do not need belly support, but if I continue running in the 3rd tri, I may look into it.
My MIL must think I am crazy and keeps asking me when the doctor said I can run until....

Re: Prenatal Yoga
Not prenatal yoga, but I've done Tracy Anderson's Pregnancy Project for the majority of my pregnancy (I skipped month 1 & 2 because I was so sick). It's a 9-DVD set so you change up the workout monthly. I really liked it and feel like my arms are more toned than when I started. It's arm exercises (with 3lb weights), lots of leg exercises, and core (without traditional crunches, of course). I was due Monday and still doing it!
