Pregnant bridesmaids?
So, I'm the MOH in my SIL's wedding on Dec. 1st. I'm supposed to wear the 1st dress and all the other BMs will wear the second dress. They would both be in black taffeta.
Now the issue is, I'm not pg now, but we're TTC #2. My SIL wants to order the dresses soon, but I don't know if or when I will get pg. If I got pg this month I would be due the beginning of January. But who knows when it could happen. I could be 1 month or 8 months pregnant.
Do you think the 1st dress is something you could wear if you were pg? Since I'm going to be wearing a different dress than the other BMs I'm hoping to be able to hold of on ordering mine as long as possible. I've tried to see if I can find any alternatives to the first dress, but I haven't been able to find anything that comes in taffeta that might be more appropriate if I do become pg. WWYD?
Was anyone a pregnant BM or have a pg BM? What did you wear?

Re: Pregnant bridesmaids?
That dress is beautiful.
I was 4 months pregnant when I was a bridemaid. I called the store and asked them what was the latest I could be fitted. They know how to handle it. I would just wait as long as you can to order it and tell them your situation. Sometimes they order it a size bigger and you alter it to fit.
I had to wear the dress in pic.
Good luck with TTC #2

Re: Pregnant bridesmaids?
I think if you were only a few months PG you could wear the first one, otherwise I don't think so. I agree, that since you are the only one wearing your dress, you can probably wait a bit longer to order it.
I had 3 PG bridesmaids! 2 of them were about 4-5 months PG, so they just ordered their dresses 1-2 sizes bigger. The other one was 8.5 months PG. She had to have major alterations to her dress. But I knew ahead of time that she was PG, so we waited until late Sept/early Oct to order the dresses (I also got married in Dec). Also, we chose dresses that were an empire waist so that the dress could literally be taken apart and re-done for her. She did wear the same dress as the other BMs (she was not the MOH).
As a last resort, David's Bridal carries dresses in Maternity. So, maybe if you ended up being 8 months along, you could get a dress there at the last minute if you had to.

Re: Pregnant bridesmaids?
I was 8 months pregnant for my brothers wedding. They just ordered a way bigger size (as late as they could order) and then altered it.

Re: Pregnant bridesmaids?
We ordered dresses and then someone got pg, so we had to order more fabric so they could add a panel on the side. I would think that a few sizes bigger would be good, I had a two piece looking dress though so they were able to take the dress up in the waist to accomadate the big belly, instead of hemming it from the bottom.

Re: Pregnant bridesmaids?
i know i could always order big and get extra fabric and all. i'm just having trouble picturing that dress with a big round belly! i just don't want to mess up my SILs plans if the dress would look ridiculous!

Re: Pregnant bridesmaids?
I was 2 months pregnant at my brother's wedding. I was the MOH. I wore the same dress as the other girls (different color). Couldn't even tell I was pregnant.

Re: Pregnant bridesmaids?
I was 9 months pregnant at my sister's wedding and gave birth 2 1/2 days after and I was her MOH. Talk about close call .
I had the same dress as the rest of the bridesmaids, she just ordered it many sizes bigger than my normal size. If I gave birth before she was going to try and work some magic to make it fit and if not...we'd just do alterations on me very pregnant. Since I was 3 cm dialated she had me call in every day to let her know my progress to make time to do major alterations. I made it though
Edited to take pics down because I'm paranoid. FM me if you want to see how my dress looked!

Re: Pregnant bridesmaids?
The dress is beautiful. It looks like you could maybe pick up the flowy part of the dress higher where your belly might be (so in other words the tighter part up top become shorter waisted to allow for the PG bump if neeed?
Do you have someone who is a seamstress who can go with you to see the dress? Then you could get ideas.

Re: Pregnant bridesmaids?
The most ideal situation would be for you wait as long as possible to order/buy your dress. I was in the same situation when my brother got married. We were TTC and had no idea if I'd be preggo and if so how far along. My SIL waited until the last possible time to order all the girls dresses which was about 4 months before the wedding at which time I just found out I was preggo, so I orderd about two sizes up and was 5 months preggo at their wedding. They key is to have an awesome seamstress to work magic on your alterations.

That is how mine was, we ordered extra material in the front and it sort of rested on my belly instead of pulling it down over - if that makes sense...

Re: Pregnant bridesmaids?
I was MOH in my SIL"s wedding and we had to order the dress when I was 8 weeks pg. I was 34 weeks pregnant at her wedding.
I was a 6 pre maternity in dress sizes and I ordered a 16. I had to take out the boning, let all the seams out and it still hurt me, I changed into a maternity dress after my speech. It was huge everywhere else except my tummy.
My advice, delay ordering as long as possible, you never know when you are going to be pg, when you do order, order BIG, it's easier to bring it all in then to let it out.
