pregnancy induced carpel tunnel?

So I went to my obgyn for my 36 weeks appointment today and told him about the swelling and shooting pain in my left hand, wrist and arm. He said I have pg induced carpel tunnel. I so hope it goes away after delivery. Has anyone else had this? Does it go away? I could not use my hand to open jars or packages. It hurts so much.

Yes I had it. Now at almost 6 wks post partum, it is almost all gone except for occasional numbness in my fingertips. It started to get a lot better at about 4 wks.

Re: pregnancy induced carpel tunnel?

I had it really bad for the last 4-5 months of pregnancy with DD. It disappeared when my water broke and I went onto labor. I never had any issues with it after that.

Now at 34 weeks my hands are swelling a little, but I don't have the pain that I had with DD.

I started to wear wrist braces at night (again) to help and I just try to limit my hand activity throughout the day (near impossible) but...I try Chat Icon

Re: pregnancy induced carpel tunnel?

i developed this 2 weeks ago at 23 weeks. It actually woke me up from a deep sleep, then went away. But for the past week it has pretty much been non-stop, mostly in my left hand and pretty much only when I eat or write with my right hand. The doctor says it goes away soon after delivery

I developed this last week also, at 17 weeks. Started in the right hand, shooting pain from my wrist up half of my arm, then the next night my left hand started! It helped me to ice it at night and i bought wrist braces to wear at night. So attractive!!
