Pregnancy and Chemo

I just found out that I am pregnant and that my sister has cancer all within the same week. My sister has advanced nueroendocrine cancer that has spread to her liver and lymph nodes. Needless to say she is going to be starting chemo within the next 2 weeks and I am not sure what that means for me. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what their doctor recommended. I am also going to call my dr but I would like to hear any of your experiences with this.

Re: Pregnancy and Chemo

My uncle was undergoing Chemo when I was PG the first time. I was at the hosp. Almost daily with him. I honestly never heard of anything like chemo interfering with pregnancy.

No advice. There was a related post on this recently and one of the girls who is an RN chimed in with her expertise.

I am sorry your sister has to go through thisChat Icon

Re: Pregnancy and Chemo

chemo wont affect your pregnancy, radiation is something you would have to ask your doctor about though.

DH's cousin relapsed soon after finding out his wife was pregnant. He underwent chemo and radiation in stronger doses because it was the second time. I believe there were some procedures that his wife couldn't be by his side for but other than that, she was there every moment when she wasn't working.

Their baby is completely fine, healthy and beautiful! Daddy had a marrow transplant after she was born and he's doing great now.

Congrats on your pregnancy!
