Pregnancy after 40?
Just wondering if anyone on here has done it? My BIL and his gf have been talking about wanting to have a child. He is 42 and she is 44. I've heard about it before, so I'm just wondering if anyone has done it. I'd say thier window of opportunity is getting smaller so if they want to do it they should get a move on it!!!

One of my good friends was 41 when her first was born and almost 43 when she had her 2nd.
ETA I agree they should get a move on, just incase they have any fertility issues too!

I've known several women who have had healthy babies that were over 40. But they just have one......they never had any more.

My experience with pg women over 40 is that they tend to need some kind of assistance with getting pg and their pregnancies tend to be more difficult.

My friend's mother had her little brother when she was 41 (making her and her brother 16 years apart). She didn't have any issues getting pregnant, but she did have an incredibly difficult pregnancy. I agree that they should start ASAP just in case they have fertility problems

A work friend with said that her mother had 4 children, each 2 years apart, late in life. My friend is the youngest and her mother was 42 when she had her- so I guess she was 36, 38, 40 & 42. My friend is 32. Some women don't have any problems having children that late...
