Preeclampsia Question
Hi everybody! Hope everyone is feeling well!
I'm 35w today and had a Dr. appointment this morning. The Dr. was concerned about my swelling... although my blood pressure is fine- he just thinks that I was too swollen and I told him I have been having occasional headaches this week, which really isn't like me.
So, I am collecting my urine on Sunday, then getting blood drawn Monday morning and going back to him Tues for results.
I didn't go to town on questions today cause I figured we would see what my blood results were on Tuesday and go from there... but my question is- if you have preeclampsia does that mean you are without a doubt getting a c-section? Or does that just increase your chances?
TIA !

Re: Preeclampsia Question
If you develop preeclampsia they will induce you. You are at risk for a CS if your preeclampsia becomes very severe, and your BP goes too high. That's what happened to me. I was about to get induced but my BP kept climbing and got to a dangerous level so they called for an emergency CS. But normally you would just be induced.
Hopefully you're ok and don't even need to worry about this!

Exactly. One of my friends had pre-e, and had to be induced. It sounded like a miserable process, but she and the baby are fine. (And she delivered vaginally).

Re: Preeclampsia Question
I had severe swelling, high BP, protein in my urine, etc. I was put on bed rest 1 month before my EDD. My doctors monitored me closely over the next few weeks and I was induced at 38 weeks (the latest they would let me go). I edned up with a c-section, but based on DS's position, I would've likely had one no matter what.

Re: Preeclampsia Question
I was diagnosed with preeclampsia on my 39th week of pregnancy. Since my BP was high...and I was already 39 weeks, they induced me. No Csection though. I think they will only do that if you really need it, not just because you have preeclampsia.

Re: Preeclampsia Question
i had swelling and protein in my urine at 32w. i did the 24-hour and then was admitted to the hospital on bedrest since it was still so early. the protein in my 24 hour was 4x the maximum they wanted to see. my BP at the time was fine. within 5 days i developed HELLP syndrome and had to deliver, my BP was borderline high at that point but everything else was going haywire. at first they were going to induce me but then sono showed the was transverse breech so i ended up with a c-section.
i like that they at least gave me the opportunity to deliver vaginally and didn't automatically push me to a section. however my blood numbers were so bad due to HELLP that i doubt i would've made it through an induction, my stats went downhill really quick.
good luck!! please FM if you have any questions!!

Re: Preeclampsia Question
I was disagnosed with pre- e at 37 weeks and was brought in to be induced. I opted for the pain meds and epidural which helped lower my blood pressure enough that i was able to have a vaginal delivery and didn't have a C-section.
I was pretty suprised when my blood pressure dropped by over 50 on each number after the meds but it helped me to avoid a c- section.

Re: Preeclampsia Question
I had it....... they induced me.....had a vag. delivery - unfortunately took 27 hours as the magnesium to help the BP was working against the pictocin. they put me on bedrest at 35 1/2 weeks and induced me 36w 1 day.
