pre-school, dumb age question
When do kids start pre-school? 3? I'm too lazy and time crunched to go on a Google hunt today so thanks!

Re: pre-school, dumb age question
Children are usually going on 4 when they start nursery, unless they are in september, october, November for birthday, then they would be going on 3. Pre-K they are usually 4 going on 5 unless they have a late birthday then they would be going on 4!

Re: pre-school, dumb age question
Thanks everyone. My daughter is an October baby. I'm trying to plan number 2 and would love for her to be in school when I go back to work after the second one.

Re: pre-school, dumb age question
Well by me everyone does a 3 year program, then a 4 year, then kindergarten. It goes by school year so a sep, oct, and nov child wold start right before their 3rd birthday in Sept. Then the Dec- August kids will already be three when school starts. A lot of people do a 2 year program as well - but they range from mommy and me to a full separation program. So I guess the question is when doyou want your DC to start. Remember in my area registration for the next year is in Nov. So Ihave already signed my 3.5 year old up at her current school for their 4 year program. Some districts offer universal prek but mine does not.
They above is for non daycare kids. The amount of times and number of days varies by school so you can usually find one that fits what you are looking for.

Re: pre-school, dumb age question
Here, we have a 2's, 3's and 4's. In order to start 2's, child must turn 2 by Dec 31st of that year. So, some start before they turn two- by a few months.
Next year, my school is going to do a Mommy & Me transition into 2 day 2's for DS and a few other kids who are either Nov/Dec/Jan/Feb babies (late bdays are holding back), so they don't have to wait until Sept to start 2's. My DD is also an early birthday and was way beyond ready for school before it started in Dec, so I am so happy DS will be able to start earlier.

Re: pre-school, dumb age question
DS is a November baby. He did slow separation at 2.5 and started nursery this fall (still 2, just turned 3). At our preschool, the cutoff was October 1.
