Pre-natal vitamin

Hi ladies,

According to the instructions for my wife's pre-natal she is suppose to take it on an empty stomach 1 hour before or 2 -3 hours after a meal. My question is why cant she take this with or immediately following food and why does it have to be taken on an empty stomach? Does this have something to do with iron absorption? She is in her 1st trimester, 11 wks, so I dont know if she really needs the iron at this time and if she would be better off taking this with food. It may be less upsetting to her stomach? Thanks for any feedback and advice you can offer.

Thats odd my vitamins say take w/food and if I take it w/o I feel naseau

Honestly, I don't follow that at all. When I remember to take it...I take it whether I'm an hour away from eating or already ate.

Every person's stomach reacts differently to the vitamins and some can cause more gas than others. So she can just take it whenever she feels like it.

huh...mine just says take daily and i take it before bed

iron should be taken on an empty stomach and w/oj - something about the acid absorbing it better.

I take my reg. multi w/food or else it upsets my stomach. If it says to - I would have her do it that way unless it upsets her stomach.

A lot of people take it before bed, which is a good way to take it on an empty stomach

My pre-natals say the same thing. I asked my doc and she said not to worry about it and just to take it before bed.
Thats what I've been doing.

I take when I have food in my stomach.. I'm also having major morning sickness so I'm afraid to take on empty stomach
