Power doors on minivan
Advantages? I know people survived without them before, but do they make a tremendous difference? We're looking at one without them and don't know if we should pass. It's a really good deal otherwise. Anybody know if they can be added in aftermarket?

Re: Power doors on minivan
Not sure about adding them after market but my DH has a minivan without power doors. That man absolutely adores his minivan!! I don't see a major disadvantage with not having them either. Either way, I would get the van even without the power doors if you like all of the other amenities.

In all honesty, when I sit in the back with Ann, I don't even know how to open the sliding door with the door handle

Re: Power doors on minivan
I don;t own a mini van and I never will, however, I love my power lift gate on my truck and simply love it's convenience. I would assume having them on a mini van would be super nice, especially when holding kids, in rain, etc. but not a necessity. And NO, I would not add them in aftermarket.

Re: Power doors on minivan
I don't have them on my new car but I am sure the main advantage is being able to open them "hand free". Like you carry a big box or a sleeping child then try to open the door with one hand.
I am OK without the option.

Re: Power doors on minivan
LOVE them. In fact, the one on DD's side recently stopped working, and will be $200+ to fix so we've not fixed it for about 2 months now. It is a PITA now to have to do it manually (it doesn't unlock/lock on it's own right now either, which adds to the annoyance...I have to open the front door to reach around to unlock it). Let me tell you, it's getting OLD for it to not be working. So much so that I told DH that he's taking it in Tuesday, no debate
