Powder in the diaper question
When do you put powder in the baby's diaper? My brother told me that his dr said never to use powder in his son's diapers but I have never heard of this before. Should I be putting powder in Daniel's diaper now? He is 11 days old.

I never did. I have heard that the powder is bad for them to inhale. Plus it is too messy for me
I never used anything unless he looked like he was getting a rash then I would use ointment.

You don't need to put powder in their diapers.
I noticed my day care does it sometimes, but that's generally on very hot days and DD is older. You should not do it on small babies bc it can be dangerous if they inhale it.

My birthing class lady said it is not good for very little infants to breathe in. Once DS was a little older (8/10 mos maybe) I used it at night because he wet so much and I thought powder would help him be more comfortable. Now at 2 yrs old I still use it at night.

The only time we've used powder on DD is when she had a really bad rash. I used it to dry her up a little before putting creme on. DD is 8 months tomorrow.

We don't use powder either. The only time I did was when we were in FL and I thought it would help him stay dry and avoid a diaper rash. The opposite happened and my ped explained that powder can actually harvest yeast, which is exactly what DS got... a NASTY yeast infection.

I would not use any powder on a baby who is only 10 days old. Talcum powder is very bad for babies to breath in. If you decide to use powder I would buy the starch based powder. My DS is 11.5 months and I just started using it once in awhile.

Ditto. Never used powder ever and only use ointment for a rash.
