Potty training with a new baby.....
For those of you that had a toddler and a new baby on the way or new baby Did you wait to potty train till after the baby or before? DS will be 2 in Feb and the new baby is due in May and I have had some mixed reviews on whether to train him now or wait till after the baby is born.
Thank you

Re: Potty training with a new baby.....
Honestly, DS will be 3 soon and we just started PT and it has been soo smooth, I am now a firm believer in waiting until the child is ready...not when we are ready (I tried PT once before and it failed)
To answer your question, if it were me, I would wait until a few months after DC #2 is born. you dont want to do it too soon so that DS feels like its because of the baby. And honestly having them both in diapers although a hassle might be easier.
But it also depends on your child. Is he verbal, does he show signs of being ready, telling you when his diaper is dirty, waking up dry, going longer between pees etc? DS was a little over 2 the first time I tried, he was very verbal by then but showed really no other signs of being ready. He didnt care about his diaper being dirty which was a big sign for me now when he was asking for a diaper change.
If my kids were closer in age I would have waited but DS is nearly 3, and DC isnt due until DS is 3y, 4m, so for us now was time.
