potty training in 3 days looking for BTDT experiences

Ok I just read the potty training in 3 days e-book. I'm feeling a little overwhelmed and intimidated by the method. My big plan was to wait until summer and then attempt to train my twins mostly outside. Now I am more leaning towards trying the 3 day approach and getting it over with, but I really can't do it alone. If I am going to attempt it I will need to get DH and my mom on board. Which will be VERY hard to do. So... tell me how it worked for you and if I should go out of my way to get DH and mom on board.

Also, how old was your LO and how did it go? Did you modify it at all?

i dont have twins so i dont know how much harder it is.

I did it when DD was about 25 months.

I did not modify at all. I am a FTWM so i did it on a weekend where i had a monday off.

i did exactly what the book said and did nothing else when my DD was up i just paid attention to her, constatnly reminded her to tell me if she had to go.

First day went horrible not once did she go on the potty.

Didnt help she is not a big drinker so i couldnt get her to drink a lot so she had to go more.

Also i had the ring on the toliet potty i also had a traveling potty i decided to take out on the 2nd day ...

Second day for half the day wasnt that great but then she went and by the thrid day she was fully trained for daytine and naps.

FOr night for 2 months from the beg. i did no pull ups no diapers limitted her drinks 2 hours before bed. Anytime i heard her stir i would wake her up and take her to the bathroom the girl still had accidents at night and woke soaking wet like she drank 10 cups before bed (she only drinks maybe 2-3 cups a day maxes as is)

After 2 months of changing sheets at night and her waking up soaked still i gave in and put pull ups a night.
She still doesnt wake up dry it is what it is hoping soon she will!!

Today was day 1, we started off with 1 success right away. Followed by 1 accident and a dry two hour nap. The rest of the day was accident after accident. Finished off by a poop on the potty! It is extremely stressful and alot of work but he gets so excited when he has a success. Consistency will definietly be key. Good Luck!

We followed it exclusively and it worked like a charm! DH was on board and stayed home on day 3. I couldn't do it alone. I'm pregnant with and the lifting on and off the toilet was just too much. DS took to it right away and barely had an accident but the poop was definitely a struggle. He held it in. Prior to potty training, DS was waking up each morning soaking wet and would even soak through his diapers. We have to wake him every 3 hours if we don't want him to wet the bed. We have followed the advice of the book and not used pull ups for overnight. He's been potty trained for about 4 1/2 weeks right now and had his FIRST pee accident today at the park. He was having too much fun to stop. We are so proud of him.

I tried it with my 2 year old and it was an epic failure. So bad in fact she refused to go near a potty for months. It was to much stress for her. She is now 3 and just decided to potty like Mommy. She just did it and that was it. She was also night trained. I really feel like when they are ready they are ready.

It worked great for us. DD was a little over 2.5 when we did it. The first day we had 9 wet underwear. Day 2 I think we had 4 or 5. And on Day 3 no accidents!

It worked great for me but it requires a lot of patience and energy. DS was 2.5 (32 months) when we started. I took 3 days off of work to do it so I could be the only one home for the majority of the time and really focus on what was going on. We did it in the winter when there was no need or desire to be outside. DS got peeing on the first day -- even though he definitely had accidents here and there after but that has long stopped and he actually caught on to peeing standing up very quickly too. Pooping -- he managed to do that the first day too however there were more challenges with that. After several days he had really gotten it and then he regressed for awhile and now he is doing it again and I think he's gotten it now. If you actually bought the e-book she provides free mentoring and I definitely took advantage of that a couple of times with regard to pooping.

That took 2 months to fully sink it but like I said peeing worked immediately. The biggest shock to me was DS slept through the night DRY every night since I started with the exception of 2 -- one of these was our fault because DH and I didn't hear him calling us when he said he had to go. He sleeps up to 12 hours a night straight. DS has never woken up wet from a nap either since we started and it has been so amazing to get rid of the diapers.

DS was about 4 months shy of 3 when we did the 3 day potty training method.
He could have done it earlier, but I needed a free weekend so we waited.
We followed it exactly as she has outlined. It didn't make sense to me to modify something that has been proven to work.
DS was completely potty trained both day & night by day two.

Do you think you would have had as much success with it if you did it at 22 months like the book says to do? To me there is a big difference between a 22 month old and a 2.5 - 3 year old. KWIM?

I think she has a point about the 22 months being an ideal time. And frankly she knows from experience because she trained her own children and foster kids as well. I'm not 100% sure DS would've been ready back then but I also didn't try.

As they approach later 2's and 3 they are getting into that developmental stage where they do want to maintain more control and will do things just because they know it ticks you off / gets a reaction. There were times I KNEW DS had to poop but he'd freak out, run away, try to hide and that was the part that was most frustrating. It took us "giving him privacy" to finally get him to do it without a problem.
