Potty Training help
My 3 yo DS has been potty trained since June. He would tell us when he had to go and was doing great. However for the last 2 weeks he hasn't been telling us he has to go and has been wetting his underwear. He goes a little and then says he has to go or sometimes i will just bring him and realize his underwear is wet. I think maybe I got into a habit of just bringing him instead of letting him tell me and now that I've backed off and tried letting him tell us he has to go he doesn't do it anymore. I'm at my wits end and getting really frustrated with him which I know is counterproductive.
How do I get him to tell me when he has to go again? He just had an accident and it was only about 30 min after he went and he didn't drink anything in between. Help please!!

I have a small potty for him and when he needs to go he goes into the bathroom himself , maybe try letting him gain his independence when going and he'll feel more responsible for his accidents and when he needs to go to the bathroom

That's the thing. He can be independent in the bathroom. He gets the stool and sits on the toilet and pulls his pants up and down by himself! I don't know what is causing this regression or where to go from here.
Do I go back to taking him every half hour? If I do that then how does he learn to go by himself again?

My sister went thru this with my nephew. He was doing it several times a day. And that's even when asking him if he had to go. He would say no, but he obviously did have to. He just didn't want to stop what he was doing to go to the bathroom. He's older than your DS (5) but he has autism so he hasn't been potty trained for that long, maybe a year or so.
Did you ask him why he's not telling you when he has to go?

I don't really have advice because my ds is the same. He's 4.5 and has been trained for a year. When I asked my Ped he just said some kids are kind of lazy about it. When it happens I just remind him that he needs to get to the potty faster and that he needs to tell me if he's wet so we can get dry pants. At this point I've kind of given up and mostly have him go at regular times, before school, after, before getting in the car etc. I figure it will click eventually.

I would just try positive reinforcement with m&ms or stickers and he'll get back into the hang of it

My dd did this months after being totally potty trained. She would tell me "I peed in my underwear" and when I asked WHY?! she would say "I was busy"  So I kept reminding her that her toys would be there after she got back from the potty and that anything she was doing she could go back to after. She got back on track in about a week
