Potty Training before I'M ready??

DS is turning 2 next month and he's a big kid, like 35 lbs. We have him in size 6 diapers (which fit ok to me) but daycare has been saying he doesn't fit in them anymore and they're now putting him in Pampers size 7s Chat Icon

Daycare asked if they can start potty training him and I reluctantly agreed because I feel like they're trying to tell me that he's physically too big for diapers. I'm all for getting him potty trained but I feel like I'M not ready to take on the commitment at home.

We just welcomed DS2 two months ago and I'm starting work again on Monday. I'm a firm believer that kids potty train when they're ready and I'm afraid forcing the issue could have negative effects. We talk about if he peed or pooped and when mommy and daddy use the potty but I don't think he fully gets it yet.

Can anyone help me to get on board with starting this venture or should I tell daycare to suck it up and strap the diapers on him anyway? Is possible to start potty training "slowly" and kind of ease into it? I read so much about the 3 day method and I don't know if I should give that a try or let daycare take the lead and follow along? Thank you so much if you've gotten this far!! Any feedback is welcome!!

Potty Training before I'M ready??

Most daycares will start at 2. They don;t force the issue they will just start introducing them to it.

I wouldn't rush it at home quite yet if you don't think he's really ready. Just introduce him to the potty or get a small one. Go with his cues. My DS was going on the potty here and there but not regularly enough to push it at 2. 5 months later we did the 3 day method and that was it!

Similar situation, though DS is 2.5. I have a 5mo DD and the last thing I want to do is take DS to the potty every 5 minutes, change accidents, etc. We've been putting him on the potty at home, though not consistently, and day care brings him to the potty all the time. He will tell us when he has to pee, though has never pooped on the potty (hence, my reservation to train at home with accidents). When I have the time, I will suck it up and spend a few days at home to do it. I know he's ready. I'm not ready.

So any big snow storm on a Friday or Monday, which will mean 3 days at home? Then we'll train. Until then? I'm not ready and that's ok!

Potty Training before I'M ready??

I'm not ready. Dd turned 2 at the end of June and 4 days later I had dd2. The last thing I want to do right now is potty train with a baby. I'm planning to do it over winter break. I had also been told no big changes 3 months before a new baby and 3/6 months after. I rocked her world enough with a sibling.
