Potty training at 18 months?

DD just turned 18 months and is refusing to wear diapers, rips them off as soon as I put them on. She unsnaps onesies so that's not working either. Has anyone done this so early? My 2 older ones I thought were early at around 22-24 months, but they spoke more and understood what they were doing I guess, so it was easier.

Any tips? I always had success with the 3 day potty training, but not sure if there's a better way with an 18 month old?

Thank you, I didn't remember that, so that's good to know.

I've tried pull ups and she just takes them off. I've been hoping it's a phase but it's been 3 weeks now and I'm honestly scared to wake up to poop all over the wall or something because she took her diaper off

Hopefully this ends soon, I don't think she's actually ready to potty train yet, so I'm just going to have to suck it up for a bit.

Totally crashing, but my mom potty trained me at 18 months...I was fine, wasn't traumatized or otherwise psychologically scarred!

I think it's worth it to at least try. You never know! DD is 15m and I plan on taking the potty out asap so she can at least get used to the idea. I always talk to her about going potty like a big girl. She's also starting to let me know when she has poop. I don't expect her to be potty trained anytime soon but I want her to be comfortable with the idea.

My niece was very similar. She stopped wanting to wear diapers at a pretty early age and potty trained pretty easily.

It's definitely possible our friends started potty trained their daughter at 16 months she was completely no accidents overnight by 19 months

i potty trained my last child at 18 months. took a few weeks, but she did it!

Just because a book says something does not make it set in stone.
Only you know your child and what will work. It wont scar her or traumatize her if you try. If shes really not into it then stop.

I potty trained my dd the opposite of the 3 day method and she did amazing. 3 day would not work for us i know it. Do what you feel is best.

My dd is 15 months old and I have been doing elimination communication with her for awhile now. She is about 80% accurate with letting me know when she has to poop now. I realized that she was often pooping in the bath tub and I started helping her sit on the potty before her bath and she would go. Now she uses a cue (grunting like trying to poop) that DH and I paired with her going to the bathroom. She will go into the bathroom most of the time if she can get there on her own. We put absolutely no pressure on her but give her lots of praise when she goes on the potty--when she sits but doesn't go we just reinforce that when she needs to go to let us know. She loves playing with the toilet paper and flushing the toilet so she is allowed to put paper in the potty and flush even if she does not go. She say bye, bye paper and we make a big thing about it.

Thank you everyone for the advice! I think I'm going to try and see how it goes, can't hurt if she actually gets the hang of it, and if not, no biggie.

Im going to set up a sticker chart tomorrow for her, she loves Mickey and Minnie, so hopefully that will be a good incentive.

And thank you for the link! Going to look over that tomorrow and see if that could work for her, because she does let me know when she poops, but not pee yet, so hopefully it will give me some tips!

My sister did it successfully.
She started with 3 day, no accidents within 2 weeks.
She is expecting another baby & wanted to train a few months before the baby.
Her child could talk and say "pee pee". I think that's the key thing.
Supposedly we were both trained at a super early age (before 18 months).
