Potty training-Anyone's child not get it in 3 days
DH and I are at our wits end. We are following the 3 day method to potty train our twin boys (they will be 3 in 4 months). This is the most difficult thing we have ever done!!! We are both close to losing it although staying calm in front of them.
I actually locked myself in the bathroom yesterday and cried! We took the week off to work on this. They are going to a 3 day a week nursery program in sept and they must be potty trained.
I think they are getting it, but they are not telling us. We are getting better at catching them (sometimes before and sometimes during their accidents) and making them finish in the potty. They are just so stubborn!!! They actually hide and wait till the 1 sec we're preoccupied and let loose in their underwear.
We are following the method and telling them a million times, tell mommy/daddy if you have to go pee pee, ok? I know the book says if your child is over 22 months they can do it. And she says all her children got it by the end of the 3rd day. Well he we are at almost 5pm on the end of day 3 and we are not there. I think we've made a little progress, DH feels like it is just as bad as day 1.
We're gonna try to stick it out. Everyone says once it clicks they know. I tried telling him it may take day 4 or 5 to click (but I hope not because I seriously feel like I am being tortured )
Anyone else's kid take longer than 3 days to get it?

Re: Potty training-Anyone's child not get it in 3 days
I may sound crazy but what is potty training in 3 days? For both my kids we let them lead when they were interested and after a few successes here and there we just removed the diaper and let them have an accident. My first had 1 accident at 2.5 years old my second we had to let her go bare bottom for a day or so at about 34 months old and was fine after that. I have a new baby and am curious about what the 3 day concept is? Is it child led or parent led?

Hang in there. They are more stubborn when they are older so chances are they do know what they are doing and will do it when they want.

They just may not be ready. Give it a few more days and see what happens. Will their pre-school take them in pull-ups? Ours did, so we did that for a few months. There was no way DS was ready to train before 3. He was 3.3 when he finally trained, and did it in 3 days.

I would give it a few more days. They say 3 days but could be more. You are very brave for training both at the same time. I want to start my girls but I'm not sure whether or not to do both at the same time.

Not all kids will train that fast.... They HAVE to be ready to do it or it will be a big battle and it won't end well... Take a break for a few weeks and do it again.
